In packaging the choice of printing techniques varies depending on the shape, the materials and the design.
In the case of this plastic helmet-shaped watch box, we chose the water slide decal process to achieve the best outcome, both in terms of aesthetics and precision of the print.
The waterslide decals can be applied to all 3D media: plastic, glass, metals, hardwoods, etc.
This technique requires specific know-how and dexterity – as the various decal layers are manually yet precisely positioned to match the design.
The process, step by step:
1. Preparation of the surface by cleaning it and ensuring it is dust free.
2. Cutting the decal to the desired shape and placing it in a soaking basin until the layer comes off the paper.
